We all had a smooth rounding of Cape Caution and enjoyed Fury Island Cove and Pruth Bay.

American Tugs at Sullivan Bay - 4th of July

I wish to thank Chris, Debbie, Susie, Steve, Rob and the whole crew at Sullivan Bay for putting on a great 4th of July event at Sullivan Bay.  You made the American Tug fleet very welcome on your docks.  

Sullivan Bay is a very cool floating home and yacht community located in the Broughton Island Group, British Columbia, Canada.  Swing past in your American Tug, the crew will make you welcome.

South Basin - La Conner Marina

We are bringing the American Tug Owners to La Conner for fall of 2013, back home to La Conner Marina and Tomco Marine Group where all the boats were built.   It will be fun to see all of the American Tugs back on the Swinomish and their owners enjoying the town.

 

The American Tug Owners have chosen to hold a fun "fling" event this fall allowing plenty of time for casual socializing and fun. 

There will be a few scheduled events:

Friday - September 12th at 5:30pm: Barbecue at Tomco/American Tug - maybe a pig roast, but definitely something will be burning.  This is a hosted event by the factory.

Saturday - September 13th at 10am:  Seminar at Tomco/American Tug - Come past the factory and we will have a good talk.  See what we have been up to this year.  

Saturday - September 13th dinner:  No host dinner at the La Conner Prime Rib & Seafood House.   We have a banquet room reserved.     www.laconnerseafood.com

 

We will come up with some other fun events... but not too many!

Interested owners should contact the La Conner Marina (360-466-3118) for reservations.  Plan to stay on the South Guest Dock as it is closest to the town of La Conner and an easy walk.  The earlier you reserve the better.  Stay tuned as more details will be forthcoming this summer on:

"The owners committee will continue to assist in the background as we try to emulate the popular Spring Fling of Deer Harbor hosted by Rex and Susan Chadwell of FLEXIBLE the last couple of years.  We are excited to still have an opportunity to visit with each other, share cruising news and make a nuisance of ourselves around the factory.  Owners “On Foot” should also consider a “Drive By” as there are excellent accommodations in La Conner such as the Channel Lodge, which is adjacent to the South Basin Guest Moorage."

The new American Tug 485

 

At just under 50-feet (49’11″ with anchor!) she will be the perfect size for the long distance cruiser. The new American Tug 485 offers a large salon with opportunities for owners choice of arrangement.

Using American Tugs time proven Lynn Senour semi-displacement hull form, the 485 will deliver excellent efficiency at speed and incredible stability provided by her hard chines and full keel. The long keel allows smooth tracking and protects the running gear.
 

We have been meeting with and listening to owners of our American Tug 435′s, 395′s and 365′s in an effort to learn how we can build the very best boats possible. “Our boat owners have tremendous amounts of experience and are very sharp, they love their American Tugs” quoted Mike Schoppert, President of Tomco Marine Group. The input has helped perfect the space utilization and kept the focus on how the boats are really used.

The AT-485 will be available with a variety of salon layouts including either an “L-shaped or U-shaped” settee, a forward dinette, desk or bar area. The traditional pilothouse can have a companionway to the optional upper flybridge or “skylounge seating area”. The large aft cockpit can be accessed via a single or optional french double-door. Twin swivel chairs and a 40-inch hidden/rising LED television are standard equipment. “The owners need to be comfortable while on extended cruises, these boats will be covering a lot of miles” said Steve Scruggs, sales manager at Tomco Marine Group.

Mark Bunzel to lead Inside Passage seminar

My friend Mark Bunzel is leading a comprehensive cruising seminar program designed for those planning to cruise to British Columbia and up the Inside Passage to Southeast Alaska.  His seminars are very well organized and present very current information.
